The Untraditional Announcement!

For all those of you reading this, this post is something I shouldn't have to explain. But because Corbin, our families and I will be recieving lots of questions.. I will just answer them here to save a lot of time!

Corbin and I, as many of you know, have found a deep love for each other. Many of you also know, he has a 4 year old little princess from a previous relationship. Chloee's mother is no longer here with us, but is now Chloees angel watching her from a distance. Corbin is currently searving in the Military as a Marine in Virginia. His daughter is happily cared for by his wonderful, loving parents, Melissa and Dave.
It is no surprise that Corbin and I want to make a future together and provide all the needs for Miss Chloee Belle. Because he is in the Military and so far away, we are finding ourselves handling the situation in a non traditional way. We do not feel it is necessary to have to wait 4 years to complete his military duties before we can become a family. Chloee misses her daddy and Corbin misses his princess (And of course I miss him too!). In the next few months, Corbin will be stationed most likely in a California base or somewhere nearby. Because of the situation he is in, they are doing the best they can to help him stay close. Corbin and I are prepared to handle all that comes our way, even if it means foregoing the traditional engagement period most couples experience before getting married. We are at this moment officially engaged without the fancy ring and fancy proposal, but under the curcumstances this is the way we've excepted it to be. Before he left again, he gave me dogtags with our names and messages personal to us. That was his way of promising me to be mine and instead of wearing it around my finger I can wear it around my neck, over my heart, name on name.
With all that said, Let me just ask.. What does an engagement mean? It means two people have found the love between each other, have decided they want to get married, and live happily as a married couple. Corbin and I have feel it is time to announce that we are officially engaged!! :) Yes, I dont have a ring and no, I dont feel jaded that I didn't get one.. My favorite quote- "The best things in life, are not things." I have an amazing fiance and a beautiful daughter coming into my life and I am beyond happy and excited to begin this new journey! I love Corbin and Chloee with all my heart. It is such a privilege to be a part of their lives and to become his wife and Chloees mommy. They are such a blessing to me. We are also doing this for the benefit of Chloee, she needs to be stable with her daddy and needs a mommy. :)
Considering our short amount of time and money to plan, we plan on having matching wedding bands and later on when we are sealed in the temple we will then chose another wedding set of rings we wish to have, and have a family and friend wedding/sealing reception at that time when Corbin has leave!
We love and cherish our friends and family and know you will support us in our decision.
I CANNOT WAIT!! :)
<3 Thank you for reading!

  2. karalee, i don't know you. you don't know me. i know corbin only from his mama and from some letters between he & i while he was at basic. but i want you to know how very special you are! this is all so exciting. and so very good to know that hearts will be made whole once again. what a blessing you are in corbin & chloee's lives. as well as in melissa & dave's. as for traditional, it can go out the window! :) i'm a firm believer that you do what needs to be done, and the Lord will bless your efforts as you strive towards the temple together. it'll be the hardest year, but the most crucial. best wishes! can't wait to hear more splendid news. :)
